Miss Universe: 3 More National Directors Cut Ties W/ MUO

Three More National Directors Cut Ties W/ Miss Universe Organization

MISS UNIVERSE – Three more national directors sever ties with the Miss Universe Organization.

In October 2022, Thai billionaire and transwoman Anne Jakrajutatip purchased the Miss Universe pageant from IMG. She is the Chief executive officer and biggest shareholder of JKN Global Group.

In a previous article, the 44-year-old businesswoman raised eyebrows in the pageant community with her policies as the new MU organization owner. She has banned franchise owners of MU from sending applicants to other international pageants. This issue is especially contentious for some franchisees that send their MU titleholders to various pageants not affiliated with Miss Universe.

Based on a report from Philstar, three additional national organization directors have left their positions after Belize said goodbye to the MUO. These are the country directors for Vietnam, Argentina, and Cambodia.

Romyr Libo-on, the general director of Cambodia International Models (CIM), published the following in an official statement released on March 2, 2023: “Miss Universe Cambodia’s franchise application thru CIM has not been approved by the Miss Universe Organization. We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to all our partners, sponsors, patrons, supporters, fans, and candidates from being our inspiration for the past six years.”

“CIM will continue to work on pageantry and give Cambodian women the platform where they can present their advocacy and voice out relevant causes and showcase the nation’s culture, nature, and identity. Stay tuned for our change of production plans. Rest assured, we will continue to deliver quality shows.”

On the other hand, queen-maker Osmel Sousa has announced his resignation as the national director of the MU Argentina Organization. The beauty czar, who trained several Philippine representatives, including 1999’s first runner-up Miriam Quiambao, and created many of Venezuela’s queens during his reign, eventually bid farewell to a profession that he had long ruled over.

Sousa was succeeded by Keno Manzur, the previous national director of MU Chile. Sousa has been named the organization’s new country director for MU Argentina.

Tran Viet Bao Hoang, the chief executive officer of Saigon Universe Corporation (UniCorp), who resigned from his position as national director, has maintained that the new Miss Universe Vietnam JSC is not permitted to use his organization’s Vietnamese name, Hoa Hau Hoang Vu Viet Nam, in a legal dispute with the MUO.

A number of national organizations and/or national directors that had partnered with the Miss Universe Organization have severed connections as a result of the bidding wars. In addition to the past national directors Osmel Sousa, Romyr Libo-on, and Tran Viet Bao Hoang, these organizations include Puteri Indonesia, MU Ghana, MU Seychelles, MU Mauritius, MU Cayman Islands, and MU Belize.
