Who is the Miss Universe new owner? Meet the Anne Jakrajutatip, a Thai transgender woman.
MISS UNIVERSE NEW OWNER – The Miss Universe Organization (MUO) has a new owner and a Thai celebrity media tycoon bought it.
For $20 million, Thai celebrity media tycoon and transgender rights advocate Jakapong “Anne” Jakrajutatip fully acquired the Miss Universe Organization (MUO). Thai-owned media and content conglomerate JKN Global Group announced this on Wednesday.
Jakrajutatip is the JKN’s chief executive officer and bought the organization for $20 million or roughly ₱1.17 billion. The CEO, at the same time, is the biggest shareholder of JKN Global Group Pcl (JKN).
She is outspoken about her advocacy as a transgender woman and built Life Inspired For Thailand Foundation for transgender people.
The acquisition of the organization is “a strong, strategic addition to our portfolio”.
Based on a report from Inquirer, Miss Universe Philippines (MUPH) National Director Shamcey Supsup-Lee reacted to this. The acquisition has received support from the local pageant director.
Shamcey expressed over the phone, “If it is true, then we are very happy to have it in Asia.”
Meanwhile, before becoming the CEO of JKN Global, Jakrajutatip had her Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations from Bond University in Australia. She also received a certificate in Real Estate Development Program from Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok.
In 2016, she was able to complete her Director Accreditation Program from the Thai Institute of Directors Association. She is a pioneer in her country bringing Indian series to Thai TV. This has made her earn the nickname “Queen of Indian Content”.
She is one of Southeast Asia’s wealthiest transwomen and she prefers to be called “Thai trans woman Billionaire” instead of a “rich girl”.
