Inmate Weds Girlfriend Inside Jail at Rosario Police Station
GROOM BEHIND BARS: A male inmate tied the knot with his beloved girlfriend inside a jail cell at Rosario Police Station.
A wedding is a celebration of love and commitment, and it is a day that many couples dream about for years. However, for some couples, the road to the altar can be a difficult one. In some cases, this can mean getting married behind bars.
For some couples, imprisonment can mean postponing or canceling their wedding plans. However, for others, getting married behind bars can be a way to solidify their commitment to each other and find hope in a difficult situation.
Recently, the prison bar did not hinder Erwin Jose Sacapao, 27, from marrying his girlfriend Rosemarie Astor, 25. The couple was both residents of Brgy. Wawa II in Rosario, Cavite.
The two had already intended to get married under the local government’s “Kasalinas” program but Erwin was unexpectedly involved in a crime that landed him in the Rosario Police Station.
“Hindi pwedeng maudlot ang aming kasal. Matagal na naming pinagplanuhan ito. Bago ako lumipad patungong Middle East kailangang maikasal kami ni Erwin,” Rosemarie happily shared.
The wedding was officiated by Rev. Buddy Villacruz of the Filipino Christian Catholic Church in the Dioceses of Cavite. Erwin’s friends were equally overjoyed by the event, especially since it was reportedly the first time they had observed a wedding within the prison.
“Natupad din ang aming pangarap na maikasal. Mahal na mahal kita Rosemarie. Huwag kang mag-alala, kapag nakalaya ako dito, susuklian ko ang lahat ng pagkukulang ko sa’yo,” Erwin emotionally explained.
Meanwhile, the Rosario MPS police force greeted the newlyweds with heartfelt welcomes and resounding applause.
