Traffic Enforcer Faces Charges After Pushing Live-in Partner Off Bridge

A traffic enforcer faces charges after he pushed his live-in partner off Malagonlong Bridge in Tayabas City, Quezon.

A female employee of Tayabas City hall was seriously injured after being pushed off a bridge and into a river by her companion, a traffic enforcer from Tayabas City on Tuesday night (February 28, 2023).

The 28-year-old victim, Verlyn Serrano Obcemia, a resident of Barangay Dapdap, Tayabas, is still being treated in the hospital for injuries to her head and body caused by the fall from the 10-meter high bridge.

The suspect, 33-year-old Jerome Cabile Cabuyao, who is a traffic enforcer from Tayabas City, escaped after the incident.

According to the Tayabas City police report, at around 10:30 pm, the couple, who are live-in partners, were on their way home from a friend’s birthday party when they had an argument while riding their motorcycle.

The suspect stopped the motorcycle in the middle of the bridge and during the argument, he pushed the woman, resulting in her fall.

The victim fell into shallow water and rocky parts of the river. The man quickly fled the scene after the incident.

Some witnesses called for help, and the Tayabas City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) responded quickly and brought the victim to the hospital in Lucena City.

The police reported that the suspect was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. The suspect, who is facing a case of frustrated homicide, is still at large and being searched for.
