Hotel Guest Arrested by Cops for Failing to Pay Bill
The police authorities arrested a hotel guest Montebello Drive, Barangay Banilad, Cebu City for not paying his bill.
On Montebello Drive in Barangay Banilad, Cebu City, the hotel management arrested a 27-year-old man for failing to pay his bill. The suspect, named Ronald Sy and residing in Barangay Busay, Cebu City, was brought to Mabolo Police Station by the hotel staff.
On February 20, Sy and his wife, Sheila May Manila, checked into the hotel. They left on February 22. On Wednesday morning, Sheila May left first, and Ronald was supposed to leave at 4 p.m.
As the hotel employees demanded payment for his P13,607.75 bill, the suspect refused but promised to transfer the money via Paypal. Notwithstanding his assurances, the suspect fled the hotel with his trolley bag after the payment did not appear in the hotel’s bank account after a few hours.
Jerome Hinonganan, the hotel security guard, momentarily detained him, but hotel management eventually opted to turn him over to the Mabolo Police Station for detention.
“He suddenly went out with his bag. Fortunately, the guard noticed him and arrested him. There was no bank transfer, as confirmed by the bank’s management. He claimed that he had already paid and that there might be a problem with the network,” Regidor said in Bisaya.
Someone was looking for the guy at the hotel prior to his arrest for an online order that he did not get. The culprit was being monitored by the hotel management in order to avoid being victimized, which led to his arrest.
The police will investigate Sy’s background to determine if he had committed similar modus at other hotels. The suspect will be charged with estafa.
