PAGASA Says LPAs Trough & Amihan to Affect PH Weather Condition
The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that the trough of a low-pressure area will bring rains over parts of Visayas and Mindanao.
On Friday (February 17, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The trough of a low-pressure area and the northeast monsoon will affect the country’s weather condition.
PAGASA reported that the Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated at 765 kilometers east southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur. The northeast monsoon will be affecting Luzon and Visayas.
The LPA’s trough will bring cloudy weather condition with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, Davao Region, and Bohol.
Amihan will bring similar weather condition over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Bicol Region, Aurora, and Quezon.
The localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila, rest of Mindanao, and the remaining parts of the country.
Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Luzon, the eastern section of Visayas, Mindanao, northern section of Mindanao, and the rest of Visayas will be moderate to rough.
The rest of Mindanao will have slight to moderate surrounding sea condition, according to the weather bureau.
PAGASA weather specialist Patrick del Mundo hoisted a gale warning over some parts of the country. He advised the fisher folks to avoid sea ventures due to high waves on the following coast waters.
“Patuloy na pinag-iingat ang ating mga kababayang mangingisda at maliliit na sasakyang pandagat hangga’t maaari ay ‘wag muna pumalaot sa banta ng mataas na alon na maaring umabot ng fiver meters sa mga baybaying nabanggit natin at dulot nito ng malakas na pag bugso ng hanging amihan,” Del Mundo said.
