Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Zamboanga del Norte, February 15, 2023
EARTHQUAKE TODAY – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.5 magnitude quake in Zamboanga del Norte today, Wednesday, February 15, 2023.
Following the 7.3 magnitude earthquake that jolted a part of Davao Occidental a few weeks ago, another strong quake was recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The quake hit a different part of Zamboanga del Norte. According to the agency, it had a magnitude of 4.5.
The earthquake that struck Zamboanga del Norte today, Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at 01:00 a.m. was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Siocon.
According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Zamboanga del Norte was located at 07.81°North, 121.78°East – 041 km North 74° West of Siocon with a depth of focus of 011 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. Based on the record released, no intensity were recorded of the said quake. The following instrumental intensities were recorded:
- Intensity I
- Jose Dalman, Zamboanga del Norte
- Intensity II
- Zamboanga City
