Cristine Reyes talked about her portrayal of Imee Marcos in ‘Martyr or Murderer’
Cristine’s popularity skyrocketed amid the pandemic due to her portrayal of the Senator’s character in the movie Maid in Malacanang, written and directed by Darryl Yap.
It was revealed in the first installment of Direk Darryl’s trilogy that she was the “maid” being referred to in the movie title. In a recent media conference for the second installment, based on the article in PEP, Cristine said that she faced a different kind of challenge this time.
She also admitted that the pressure on her as an actress intensified. “Well, ahhh… pressure… pressure talaga. As in, like pressure cooker! Ha! Ha! Ha! Hindi! Ahhh… totoo naman. Kasi, napakalaki talaga ng role ni Senator Imee Marcos sa kanyang pamilya,” Cristine Reyes said.
The actress also shared that after reading the first and the second scripts, she can say that she and apparently a lot of people do not know the role that Imee Marcos played in past events.
“So I think this is a revelation to everyone, even me. So… ahhh… hindi ko alam. Parang nagkataong nangyari sa personal life ko yung parang na-connect din kay Senator Imee Marcos,” she added.
With this, she said that she can connect her personal life with what Sen. Imee experienced back then. Somehow the revelations made her realize things like it can connect with her personally.
Cristine also said that even though she and Sen. Imee went through different kinds of life experiences but the actress said that she can feel the pain of the politician. “I felt her being the daughter of the former president, and I felt her humanity,” the actress stressed.
Cristine Reyes shared that they had fun shooting in Morocco and she did not expect this because the scenes they did there were intense. She added that her last scene there was a very difficult one and she needed the help of Direk Darryl Yap.
