Robin Padilla Proposes Ex-Presidents To Automatically Become President Advisers

Robin Padilla wants this automatic job for ex-presidents

Senator Robin Padilla proposed that ex-presidents should automatically become presidential advisers.

Previously, Senators Bong Go, Mark Villar, Francis Tolentino, and Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa proposed a bill to give former Philippine presidents additional benefits as they still do “post-presidential duties.”

In addition to this proposal, the aforementioned Senators also want an office space as well as adequate staff for the former leaders. This will be provided by the Office of the President as they continue to perform “post-presidential duties such as meeting with foreign and local dignitaries, and attending public events and other social engagements.”

In their explanatory note in the bill, the Senators said that these duties that the former Presidents will do often require them to employ the services of personal staff and maintain a private office.

Following that, Sen. Padilla wanted to propose an automatic duty for former heads of state, based on the article in Inquirer. He said that he fully supports the proposal of his colleagues to give additional benefits to ex-Presidents.“Especially since their sacrifice for the nation continues. I am sure they have much to contribute to our nation, even after their terms end,” the actor-politician said.

If I may add to the proposed measures, I propose that former Presidents be automatically made presidential advisers, and it will be up to the sitting President to decide which area they can contribute,” the Senator added.

Padilla also said that former President Rodrigo Duterte could be the adviser on law enforcement or on foreign relations. The actor-politician is a known ally of the former Davao City Mayor.

Meanwhile, in a previous interview, Robin Padilla was asked if he sees himself as President of the Philippines in the future. His answer was, “Mas marami pong magagaling. Naniniwala po akong mas kaya nila.”
