PAGASA Releases Latest Weather Update for Friday (January 20, 2023)

The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that the shear line will bring rainy weather condition over parts of the country.

On Friday (January 20, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The northeast monsoon and shearline will affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA reported that the shear line and the northeast monsoon will be affecting Luzon and Visayas.

The shearline will bring cloudy weather condition with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Bicol Region, Romblon, and Northern Samar.

The northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies with rains over Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Mt. Province, Ifugao, Aurora, Laguna, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, and Marinduque.

The amihan will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon. The localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather condition over the remaining parts of the country.

Hanggang sa weekend po ay wala po tayong inaasahang bagyo na papasok sa ating Philippine area of responsibility, subalit posibleng may mabuong low pressure area sa labas ng PAR at yung trough o yung extension nito ay posibleng magpa-ulan as early as Sunday dito sa eastern Mindanao, and for the entire Mindanao, simula po ng Lunes,”  Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estreja said. 

PAGASA also advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

The coastal water condition over Northern Luzon, the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon, and Eastern Visayas will be rough. The rest of Luzon and Visayas will have moderate to rough coastal waters. Mindanao will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions.
