A male passenger elicits reactions from the online community for pressing the jeepney’s brake while the driver is urinating.
In the Philippines, jeepneys, often known as jeeps, are the most widely used form of public transportation. They resemble minibuses. Their crowded seating and tacky decorations, which have come to be widely recognized as symbols of Philippine culture and art, are well renowned for them.
Jeepneys are descendants of the auto calesas, or simply “AC,” shared taxis that were popular throughout the American colonial era. In the 1930s, these developed into altered imported cars with attached carriages that were used as affordable passenger utility vehicles in Manila.
However, there are some instances wherein jeepney drivers need to leave their vehicles for some reason.
Recently, A Facebook user named Mark Anthony Fernandez shared a photo of himself stepping the jeepney’s brake while the driver is urinating. The post immediately spread like a wildfire online and earns reactions from the netizens.
In the photo, Fernandez stepped the brakes while the jeepney driver leaves the vehicle to take a pee. The latter probably did it to prevent the vehicle from moving and avoid any possible accidents while the driver is out.
However, it was still unclear if he stepped the brake just for fun and for safety purposes.
