Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Davao Occidental, January 13, 2023

EARTHQUAKE TODAY – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.2 magnitude quake in Balut Island, Davao Occidental today, Friday, January 13, 2023.

Following the 4.3 magnitude earthquake that jolted Maguindanao del Norte a few days ago, another strong quake was recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The quake hit a part of Davao Occidental. According to the agency, it had a magnitude of 4.2.

The earthquake that struck Davao Occidental today, January 13, 2023, was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Balut Island.

According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Davao Occidental was located at 02.37°North, 128.16°East – 454 km South 42° East of Balut Island with a depth of focus of 009 kilometers.

Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that no damages are expected from the said quake but as well as aftershocks. Based on the record released, no intensity was recorded of the said quake at the epicenter as well as nearby areas. No instrumental intensities was recorded of the said quake as well.
