MMFF Chairman Don Artes Speaks on First Summer Film Festival They Hold this April
MMFF – Metro Manila Film Festival over-all chairman Attorney Don Artes confirmed that the First Summer Metro Manila Film Festival will be held this April.
Filipinos are undeniably lovers of films. That is why a lot of Pinoys like taking part in film festivales by watching their movie offers. Many Filipinos love to watch horror and suspense movies but there are also a lot of Pinoys who are into movies about family, love, and friendship.
In the Philippines, one of the most awaited film festivals every year is the Metro Manila Film Festival. More commonly called MMFF, it is held every December in time for the Christmas season. The showing of movies in cinemas nationwide start in December 25 and it usually runs until January the following year.
The said film festival is made of eight (8) entries or films. There is a screening committee which evaluates the entries submitted and determines which will be official entries to the film festival.
Based on an article on Pep, the 48th MMFF or the latest film festival has already reached the P500 million gross sales. Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and Film Festival’s over-all chairman Attorney Romando “Don” Artes consider it a good indication that the joy of the film festival is returning citing that there are only 700 cinemas where the recent entries were shown unlike before that 1,000 cinemas nationwide are showing the entries.
According to the Film Festival’s over-all Chairman, there are still provinces where there are no cinemas. The Executive Committee met over the success of the recent film festival and approved the first Summer MMFF this April.
Artes revealed that the 1st Summer MMFF will be held starting on April 8 (Black Saturday) until April 18. They will be having a meeting with producers to encourage them to submit entries for the summer film festival. The deadline is set on February 17, 2023 and the screening committee has a week to check on the entries.
