PAGASA Says LPA & Amihan to Affect PH Weather Condition

The state weather update PAGASA reported that two low-pressure areas will bring rains over most parts of the country.

On Thursday (January 5, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Two low-pressure areas and the northeast monsoon will affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA reported that they were monitoring two low-pressure areas. One has exited the Philippines Area of Responsibility while the other one is spotted at 185 kilometers west of Catbalogan City, Samar or 50 kilometers east of  Roxas City, Capiz.

The LPA will bring cloudy weather condition with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, and Davao Region.

The northeast monsoon will bring similar weather condition over Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, and CALABARZON.

Amihan will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with light rains over Ilocos Region. The localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather condition over the rest of Mindanao.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over the entire country will be moderate to rough.

The weather agency also announced that no tropical cyclone is expected to enter the country until this weekend.

“Magandang balita po dahil hanggang weekend, wala tayong inaasahang bagyo na papasok sa Philippine area of responsibility,” Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estreja said.

PAGASA also warned the residents in the affected areas for possible landslides and flash floods due to moderate to heavy with at times intense rain and severe thunderstorms.
