BPI Transactions Last December 30-31 Experience Duplication
BPI TRANSACTIONS – The bank transactions including deposits to and withdrawals from Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) accounts last December 30-31 were reportedly posted twice.
The Bank of the Philippine Islands is one of the biggest banks in the Philippines. More commonly called BPI, it has several branches across the nation as well as automated teller machines (ATMs) that offer bank services to the Filipinos.
Most payrolls now are done through bank accounts and several companies have enrolled their payroll system to BPI. Thus, employees are queuing on ATMs every pay day. Undeniably, several ATMs across the nation were very busy amid the recent holiday season. Many people are either depositing or withdrawing money from their accounts. There are also those who use their BPI card for their purchases.
However, last December 30 and 31 which are two (2) of the busiest days for most people during the holiday season, BPI transactions were posted twice. Based on a report on Inquirer, the said transactions include withdrawals and deposits.
For example, if you deposited P500 last December 30, P1000 may be added to your BPI account. If you withdrew P1000 from your account on that day, P2000 might have been deducted from your account due to the doubled posting.
Furthermore, those BPI accounts used in paying for purchases through swipe or tap are also included in the duplicated transactions. The affected transactions include those that were done through ATMs, cash accept machines or CAMs, and point-of-sale or POS terminals.
Based on the report, purchases that were done via e-commerce were also charged twice. Currently, both the online banking website and the mobile app of the bank cannot be accessed. More updates may be posted soon.
