Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Davao Oriental December 29, 2022
EARTHQUAKE DAVAO ORIENTAL – The Phivolcs recorded a 5.2 magnitude earthquake in Governor Generoso, December 29, 2022.
Following the 4.3 magnitude earthquake that jolted Maguindanao del Norte a few days ago, another strong quake was recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The quake hit a part of Davao Oriental. According to the agency, it had a magnitude of 5.2.
The earthquake that struck Davao Oriental, December 29, 2022, was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Governor Generoso at 09:13 p.m.
According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Davao Oriental was located at 06.20°North, 126.34°East – 058 km South 30° East of Governor Generoso with a depth of focus of 130 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that no damages are expected from the said quake but there may be aftershocks. According to the agency, the following intensities were recorded of the said quake:
- Intensity III
- Governor Generoso, City of Davao, Mati City, San Isidro and BanayBanay, Davao Oriental
- General Santos City and Tupi, South Cotabato
- Arakan, Cotabato
- Alabel and Malapatan, Sarangani
- Intensity II
- Tampakan and Polomolok, South Cotabato
- Maco, Mawab, Monkayo, and Nabunturan, Davao de Oro
- Glan and Kiamba, Sarangani
- Lupon, Manay, and Tarragona, Davao Oriental
- Intensity I
- Caraga, Baganga, Cateel, and Boston, Davao Oriental
- Maasim and Maitum, Sarangani
