The Darna director acknowledges the negative reactions their series received
Darna director Benedict Mique reacted to the negative reactions that the Kapamilya series received when it comes to CGI or computer-generated imagery.
ABS-CBN has finally released the much-awaited series this year after several delays that have happened. However, the series has received negative reactions, especially the special effects that were used.
Based on the article in Bandera, viewers particularly pointed out the scene when Darna, played by Jane de Leon, was flying while the snake of the character of Janella Salvador, Valentina, was awaiting. Some said that the series looked like an anime because of its CGI.
However, there were those who defended the series. They pointed out that CGI is not easy and this requires time and a big budget.
Benedict Mique, the Darna director, said that they are aware of the negative reactions that their series received. They both entertain negative and positive feedback. “Despite the limitations of producing a show like Darna in a limited market like ours, the team is trying its best to give the viewers a good show,” he said.
Direk Benedict also said that it is admirable that ABS-CBN still pursued producing this kind of project even though several problems have occurred. He also pointed out that this project has given jobs to many people.
The director said that the people behind Darna learned a lot and the viewers can expect that they will use these lessons in improving the shows. Direk Benedict also expressed gratitude to the avid viewers of the series.
“Nagpapasalamat din ako personally sa mga viewers dahil Darna has been consistently on top in terms of views online which I think is the trend right now because the audience has shifted online. Salamat,” the Darna director said.
