EARTHQUAKE ILOCOS NORTE – The Phivolcs recorded a 3.5 magnitude earthquake in Nueva Era, Thursday, December 22, 2022.

Following the 4.3 magnitude earthquake that jolted Maguindanao del Norte a few days ago, another strong quake was recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The quake hit a part of Ilocos Norte. According to the agency, it had a magnitude of 3.5.

The earthquake that struck Ilocos Norte today, December 22, 2022, was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Nueva Era at 01:19 a.m.

According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Ilocos Norte was located at 17.86°North, 120.58°East – 011 km South 58° West of Nueva Era with a depth of focus of 001 kilometers.

Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that no damages are expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. According to the agency, Intensity III was felt in Lacub, Abra. Instrumental Intensity I was logged in Nueva Era, Ilocos Norte.
