Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Occidental Mindoro December 16, 2022

EARTHQUAKE TODAY OCCIDENTAL MINDORO – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.8 magnitude earthquake in Paluan Friday, December 16, 2022.

Following the 4.3 magnitude earthquake that jolted Maguindanao del Norte a few days ago, another strong quake was recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The quake hit a part of Occidental Mindoro. According to the agency, it had a magnitude of 4.8.

The earthquake that struck Occidental Mindoro on December 16, 2022 was tectonic in origin. It struck specifically hit Paluan at 07:00 p.m.

According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Occidental Mindoro was located at 13.56°North, 120.56°East – 019 km North 33° East of Paluan with a depth of origin of 089 kilometers.

Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that there are no damages expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. According to the agency, Intensity I was felt in Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro. The following instrumental intensities were recorded in these areas:

  • Intensity II
    • Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro
    • Taytay, Rizal
  • Intensity I
    • Batangas City, Batangas
    • Plaridel, Bulacan
    • Magallanes, Cavite
    • Abra De Ilog, Occidental Mindoro
    • Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro
