Joey de Leon said something about Toni Gonzaga
Director Paul Soriano said that his wife Ultimate Multimedia Star Toni Gonzaga is probably the most powerful celebrity today and this received a reaction from Henyo Master Joey de Leon.
Joey and Toni first worked together in the Kapuso noontime show Eat Bulaga. During a recent interview, the veteran comedian-host admitted that he initially felt mad when the actress-host left the show and transferred to ABS-CBN.
However, Joey said that it was just them being selfish because Toni was like the show’s baby. Eventually, they were able to reconnect and now, they have a new movie together. For the Metro Manila Film Festival 2022, Toni and Paul’s production companies created the film My Teacher.
In a recent press conference, the cast and director of the movie answered various questions about this project and recent issues about them. Joey de Leon shared his reaction to the statement that Paul Soriano had about his wife, based on the article in Balita.
The award-winning filmmaker said that he thinks that Toni Gonzaga is the most powerful celebrity now and it is because of her strength despite the criticisms that she gets from prominent people.
This did not sit well with some netizens and Direk Paul, as well as Toni, received bashing online. “Mali naman kasi mga bashers nyo, eh… ang sinasabi ni Paul doon sa kabuuan, sabi niya equally powerful yung mga tumitira rito kay Toni,” Joey de Leon said.
Then, the Henyo Master explained the point that Direk Paul wanted to emphasize. “Eh, hindi naman ito nagre-react, hindi natitinag, so, powerful ito. Mas powerful kasi hindi niya pinapansin, eh,” the veteran comedian-host said.
At some point during the interview, Joey de Leon was asked about the factor that he thinks made Toni Gonzaga’s career successful. The Eat Bulaga host said that the TONI host has “hidden appeal” and only a few artists have this.
