Paul Soriano likens life to films
Filmmaker Paul Soriano said that he considers his and his wife actress-host Toni Gonzaga‘s critics as antagonists.
Direk Paul has received recognition for his work in the industry. It is also a known fact that as an actress, host, and now the CEO of her own production company, Toni has achieved several milestones in her career.
However, it is also a given fact that the couple has received criticism online, especially when it comes to their political belief. In a recent interview, based on the article in Manila Bulletin, Direk Paul said that he looks at things from a perspective of a filmmaker.
“I would look at everything like a film. And in every drama, there are protagonists and antagonists,” he said. Paul Soriano also said that this is what makes life exciting, including the conflict and the drama.
“If there’s a formula for failure, it’s trying to please everybody. You cannot. It’s impossible to please everybody,” he added. The filmmaker also said that in the world of politics and showbiz, there will always be critics. He stressed that even the best directors and best actors receive criticism.
Direk Paul pointed out that this is how he and Toni would look at their critics. “What Toni and I have come to realize is their role in our lives. Sila ang antagonists and we just have to embrace it,” he said.
The director also said that having significant people in their lives who can be happy with them is more than enough for them. He also expressed willingness to work with those who do not share the same views as him.
Direk Paul stressed that he is looking at the talent of a person and not the lifestyle as he believes that everyone has a skeleton in their closet. The important factor for him is talent regardless of political or spiritual belief or gender preference.
Previously, Paul Soriano said that Toni Gonzaga is probably the most powerful celebrity today because of how she was able to handle bashings even from powerful personalities in society.
