Earthquake Bukidnon: 4.5 Magnitude Quake Jolts Kalilangan

EARTHQUAKE BUKIDNON – A 4.5 magnitude quake jolted Kalilangan according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

Two (2) earthquakes with over 4.0 magnitude were logged in Bukidnon today, December 6, 2022. The epicenter of the first quake with 4.4 magnitude was located at Pangantucan. It was followed by a 4.5 magnitude quake that hit Kalilangan.

Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about Earthquake Today December 6, 2022 in Bukidnon

EARTHQUAKE TODAY DECEMBER 6, 2022 – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.5 magnitude earthquake in Bukidnon today.

Most of the time, quakes hit with no prior signs. Recently, several places in and out of the Philippines were shaken by quakes of different magnitudes.

One of the strong quakes recorded by Phivolcs was the 7.1 magnitude quake in Davao Oriental. There were expected aftershocks due to the said quake and a tsunami advisory was released.

Previously, Phivolcs also recorded a quake in a part of Zambales. It had a magnitude of 6.1. Strong shaking was felt leaving people fearing about the so-called “Big One“. But the agency advised the people to wait for factual information and not to panic.

Recently, a quake hit a part of Bukidnon, December 6, 2022. Kalilangan was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.5.

According to Phivolcs, the earthquake today December 5, 2022 that hit a part of Bukidnon was located at 07.77°North, 124.72°East – 004 km North 46° West of Kalilangan with a depth of origin of 001 kilometers.

Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that there may be damages from the said quake but aftershocks are not expected. According to the agency, no intensity was recorded at the epicenter of the quake as well as the nearby areas. The following instrumental intensities were recorded:

  • Intensity IV
    • Kalilangan, Bukidnon
  • Intensity II
    • Talakag, Bukidnon
  • Intensity I
    • Cagayan de Oro, Misamis Oriental
    • Malaybalay, Bukidnon
