Pantone Says Color of the Year 2023 is Viva Magenta from Red Family
COLOR OF THE YEAR 2023 – Pantone picked “Viva Magenta”, a shade of red, as the color for next year.
A lot of people now start preparing for the Christmas and New Year celebrations. In the Philippines and in other countries across the nation, one of the traditions in most households is the wearing of a shirt that is in line with the color of the year.
Pantone Color Institute is one of those that pick a color and unveils it several weeks before the new year. For 2022, the choice was “Very Peri” which was a shade of blue.
For next year, Pantone had announced the color of the year 2023. – it is “Viva Magenta”. The said color descended from the red family.
On a statement posted on Pantone’s official website, Pantone Color Institute Executive Director Leatrice Eiseman expressed that they want to draw inspiration from nature and the reality amid the age of technology. She further stated that “Viva Magenta reconnects us to original matter”.
According to Eiseman, the red of cochineal, one of the most precious dyes under the dye family, was the inspiration for Viva Magenta. The Pantone Executive Director stated that the color of the year 2023 expresses strength, fearlessness, and bravery and also promotes “a joyous and optimistic celebration”.
On her statement posted on Pantone‘s official website, the Executive Director further stated that the color of the year 2023 is both empowering and powerful. Coming from red, it exhibits pure joy and self-expression without restraint. She stressed that it is inclusive, full of wit, and audacious. It helps build inner strength and boosts the spirit.
