Direk Joel Lamangan To Undergo Another Heart Operation

DIREK JOEL LAMANGAN – The veteran filmmaker is confined at a hospital since December 1 and is set to undergo a heart operation today, December 5.

In the Phillippine showbiz industry, one of the most popular filmmakers is director Joel Lamangan. He is the man behind several movies and projects that gathered the crowd in cinemas and won awards.

Among the most popular projects of the veteran director were the films Felix Manalo in 2015 and the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2018 entry Rainbow’s Sunset. However, in 2015, while at the set of the taping for Felix Manalo, he suffered from a heart attack.

Recently, the doctors diagnosed a lot of blockage in the heart of Direk Joel Lamangan and advised him to undergo another bypass operation. Based on an article on Pep, the filmmaker is currently confined in the hospital since December 1.

According to the article, Direk Joel Lamangan followed the advise of his doctor to be admitted at Makati Medical Center (MMC) since December 1 so he can really have enough rest before the bypass operation. The veteran filmmaker is set to undergo his bypass operation today, December 5.

Speaking to Pep, the filmmaker revealed that millions are spent for his operation. He sought for prayers for his recovery and he has to undergo at least two months of rest so the earliest time that he can have tapings is February 23.

The 68-year-old filmmaker previously attended the press conference of his MMFF 2022 entry My Father, Myself held at Novotel Hotel in Q.C. last November 24. He may not be able to attend the 48th MMFF Parade of Stars on December 21 and the Gabi ng Parangal on December 27 at New Frontier Theater.
