BI Warned Public Against Scammers Pretending to be Their Agents

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has warned the public against scammers pretending to be their agents to victimized individuals.

The BI issued a warning to the general public about con artists who pose as agency employees in order to extort money from visitors visiting the nation. According to BI Spokesperson Dana Sandoval, a number of foreign nationals were given phony mission orders that required agency employees to search homes and examine nightclubs in order to make arrests.

BI Scammers

The immigration staff can only hunt a foreign national if there is a mission order given by our Commissioner, according to Sandoval, who explained this in a public briefing. He continued by saying that it is only given out following a careful inquiry and confirmation of the presence of illegal aliens.

“Hindi po ‘to totoo dahil ang mga immigration personnel po ay maaari lamang manghuli ng isang foreign national kung merong mission order na issued ang ating Commissioner,” Sandoval said.

“At ini-issue lamang po ito kung merong thorough investigation and confirmed na may illegal alien, foreign national doon na may violation ng immigration laws,” said the official.

The public, according to Sandoval, should exercise extra caution throughout the holiday season because of the presence of scammers. In order to catch them, it also urged the victims to go to the police right away, based on the report.
