Martin Nievera signed a new contract with the Kapamilya network
Concert King Martin Nievera expressed loyalty to ABS-CBN during a recent contract signing event in Las Vegas.
Martin is an icon in the Philippine music industry. In his 40 years in showbiz, he already did countless sold-out concerts here in the country and abroad. He also popularized several timeless classics.
After many years, Martin chose to remain a Kapamilya despite the fact that his home network’s request for franchise renewal was not granted. The Concert King did a contract-signing event with ABS-CBN COO Cory Vidanes and ABS-CBN CEO Carlo Katigbak on The Strip of Las Vegas.
In a press conference for his 40th-anniversary concert, based on the article in PEP, Martin Nievera said that he thought contract signing was not necessary because, despite the tough time that ABS-CBN went through, he remained a Kapamilya.
“So I signed another contract with ABS-CBN and I was very emotional and so were they because I asked them ‘Do we still need a contract? After all we’ve been through together and what we are still continuing to go through together?’” the Concert King said.
He added that he does not need a piece of paper to stay loyal. However, he is honored that ABS-CBN wanted to make it official. “You don’t need to write my name on a piece of paper for me to know that I fought for you, I stayed with you,” Martin stressed, adding that this is his loyalty and it has been like this since the beginning.
The singer also shared that other networks presented tempting offers. He said when ABS-CBN opened again decades ago, he was one of the people who were there and so it is not ready for him to leave just like that.
Martin Nievera shared that he could be wealthier and more intriguing if he would transfer to other networks but the biggest question he will ask is that “will this make him happy?’
