2 DSWD Officials Relieved for Asking Strict Requirements for Cash Aid
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) relieved two officials for allegedly asking for strict requirements from Typhoon victims.
After receiving a complaint from the mayor of Noveleta, Cavite, Dino Chua, the DSWD has fired the regional director and assistant director of their office in Region IV-A for allegedly being excessively stringent while dispersing monetary assistance.
According to the report, before providing assistance to those affected by typhoon Paeng, the officials are demanding numerous documents from the victims. Chua approached them, according to DSWD Secretary Erwin Tulfo, who was speaking at the press conference.
“So ang ginawa ko po, habang pending ang investigation, ni-relieve ko yung regional director ko sa Region IV-A at tsaka yung assistant regional director para masatisfy yung investigation para di ma-impluwensiyahan yung imbestigasyon sa nangyaring incident sa Noveleta,” Tulfo said.
Additionally, he summoned two officials to provide statements in his office. The regional office will be run by DSWD Assistant Secretary Marites Maristela initially.
In addition, Chua is looking into the issue on a different level. One of the four regions President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. placed was Calabarzon, which will be remembered. in a catastrophe-like state as a result of the massive damage caused by Typhoon Paeng.
