Mikee Cojuangco told Pia Arcangel that she first appeared in a Swatch commercial when she was 17 years old and that’s when she started getting offers to be an actress. She admitted that she was hesitant to accept the offers because of her studies and being a national athlete.

Apart from that, she also said that she knows the demands of being an actor. “Alam ko na ang buhay showbiz kasi nakikita ko si Kris [Aquino] tapos sometimes, she’ll get me to visit her, ganun, so nakikita ko rin,” Mikee said.

But Mikee was forced to rest and recover from her sports when she suffered an injury. “I was very frustrated. Since the age of 10, imagine, I was riding almost every day,” she said.

But instead of continuing to be disappointed, this became the way for her to accept the offer of being an actress. “My mom said, ‘you know, every opportunity that comes your way, you should take it, and for all you know, you [might] love it,’” she said.

“I love the work. I love the people that I work with. So, para sa akin, it was really such a blessing. And not only that, it helped me support myself in sports,” she added.

Mikee also hosted ‘Eat Bulaga’ and appeared in movies such as ‘Manalo, Matalo, Mahal Kita,’ and ‘Forever’ with Aga Muhlach.

In 2002 Mikee won Gold in the individual show jumping event at the Asian Games held in Busan, South Korea. She was also a flag bearer in the 2010 Asian Games although she did not participate in the competition.
