ABS-CBN Regional A Big Loss During Calamities? Netizens Speak

Here are the statements of the netizens about ABS-CBN regional groups and their importance during typhoons.

ABS-CBN REGIONAL – People online are talking about the big help ABS-CBN regional could’ve done if the network wasn’t shut down.

On July 10 of 2020, media giant ABS-CBN network faced a losing battle for a brand new franchise. They failed to secure a franchise to continue operation but despite this unfortunate happening, they proved that they are more than just a logo.

ABS-CBN

The network has always said this: “Whatever we do, and wherever we go, we shall always be faithful to our commitment of being in the service of the Filipino.”

They continued to deliver timely news and programs to entertain the people. They stayed true to their words to serve the Filipino people. The network did everything to still connect with its viewers on a different platform.

ABS-CBN may not be on free television anymore but they remained to serve through their digital channels and platforms.

And every year, during calamities, the network with the biggest reach is always missed. People online would always air their dismay because if there’s only been ABS-CBN and their regional network groups, things would be better and information dissemination would have been easier.

But for the past two years, things were different. Far-flung areas that the network used to reach through their RNG were left behind and weren’t heard. Spreading news also became more difficult because not everyone has an internet connection to be informed.

And now, during the onslaught of Paeng, people online once again aired their sentiments about ABS-CBN RNG as a big loss during this difficult time.

One used said, ABS-CBN has regional tv stations. They also have regional FM/AM radio stations. They could have provided information. Enough of this “Mindanao-is-ignored thing. Most of you even cheered when ABS-CBN was closed down.”

Another one expressed, “Much as the news media are reporting the latest developments on the typhoon, the information gap is real. Many remote, hard-to-reach areas miss the comprehensive coverage of ABS-CBN RNG.”

Meanwhile, this one netizen compared these based on the same time of airing while several areas in the country are being beaten by the tropical storm.

  1. Not only would abscbn rng would disseminate pertinent information they would also initiate a fund and help drive for the victims of disasters whether it be natural or man made. Cebuanos would eagerly bring their varied donations either in fuente or at abscbn station in jagobiao, mandaue city. We all forget the big help they had done and easily got brainwashed subtly by a “hardworking and sincere” leader. How is marawi city by the way? After that leader stepped down marawi is still a mess! Tacloban city was highlighted for someone’s failure daw but the famous promised end of drug abuse and restoration of marawi city and the eradication of corruption in the government were never materialize and continued to become a dream as many continue to blame the “oligarchs ” for the country’s woes. When abscbn was shutdown many tv sets were unplugged or swithed to other media platforms for entertainment and other valuable information. Pls. bring back abscbn. We greatly missed the “tabang patrol”.
