Paul Soriano was defended by Pres. Bongbong Marcos
President Bongbong Marcos defends his decision to appoint award-winning filmmaker Paul Soriano as his adviser on creative communications.
On October 17, it was confirmed that Direk Paul will be one of the President’s advisers. In his social media post, the director expressed how thankful and honored he is for having the chance to serve the country and the President.
His wife Ultimate Multimedia Star Toni Gonzaga is indeed proud of him for this position in the government. Previously, it was revealed that the job description of Direk Paul will require him to give advice to the President and assist agencies when it comes “information dissemination programs and initiatives.”
In a recent interview, based on the report from Manila Bulletin, President Bongbong Marcos said that people has misunderstood the job that Direk Paul Soriano will do under his administration.
“People have misunderstood. He’s not there to be part of the PR (public relations) machine,” the Chief Executive said, adding that the role of Direl Paul is to showcase the Filipino talent to the world.
“Kasama ‘yan sa tourism. Pinagmamalaki natin ang gagaling kumanta ng Filipino, ang gagaling umarte, ang gagaling gumawa ng sine, etc., etc,” the President clarified.
In a previous interview, the filmmaker revealed that he was offered to take the place of press secretary as Atty. Trixie Angeles-Cruz resigned. However, Direk Paul said that he refused to accept this offer.
President Bongbong Marcos also defended his decision to appoint former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Camilo Cascolan as an undersecretary at the Department of Health (DOH).
As a DOH undersecretary, the President said that Cascolan will not be focusing on the health issues but on the “function of the DOH, rightsizin, and structural changes.” “We need somebody to examine what has been going on. Ano yung maganda, ano yung hindi maganda, ano yung pwedeng mas maayos,” the Chief Executive stressed.
