Former Sen. Manny Pacquiao Plans To Return to Politics
MANNY PACQUIAO – The boxing legend and former Senator admitted that he has plans to run again in politics.
One of the candidates for president during the May 2022 Elections was then-Senator Manny Pacquiao. He was the standard-bearer of PROMDI and he ran alongside former Manila Mayor Lito Atienza as his running-mate. However, both of them lost the presidential and vice-presidential elections, respectively.
Pacquiao served as senator for one term. Prior to it, he has served several positions in the local government. He already made a name in the boxing field and is already one of the wealthiest Filipinos before he entered the political arena.
The boxing legend was born in poverty. It was his success in the boxing field after defeating several big names in the arena that helped him take his family out from poverty. He is known as one of the prominent individuals with a heart for the poor and the needy.
During the Elections 2022 campaign, then-Sen. Pacquiao stressed that he wants to help uplift the lives of the Filipino people and end corruption in the country. Even after his loss, the boxing legend and former Senator is vocal about his pursuits.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, during his guesting in “Knowing Bros”, a South Korean variety show, former Sen. Manny Pacquiao admitted that he has plans to run again in politics.
“Sumali ako dahil gusto kong disiplinahin ‘yong mga tao. Pagdating sa korapsyon, gusto kong sugpuin ‘yong korapsyon and then gusto kong umunlad ‘yong bansa namin,” he said.
Based on the report, former Sen. Pacquiao stressed that his passion to help the people is there so he still have plans to run in the political arena. Meanwhile, the former presidential candidate did not disclose as to his target position if he will run again in future elections.
