Video of LTO’s Defective Motorcycle Auction Goes Viral Online

The Land Transportation Office launched an auction featuring several defective motorcycles that earned criticisms from the online community.

The Land Transportation Office is an agency of the Philippine government under the Department of Transportation responsible for all land transportation in the Philippines. Functions of the LTO include the inspection and registration of motor vehicles, issuance of licenses and permits, enforcement of land transportation rules and regulations, and adjudication of traffic cases.

LTO usually apprehends motorists who commit traffic violations. The officials issue violation tickets to those who violated the traffic policy. The agency also confiscates vehicles with no legal or valid documents.

Defective Motorcycle Auction

The Facebook page “Tolit’s sidecar” has shared video footage of the Land Transportation Office performing an auction featuring defective motorcycles. The video garnered various reactions from the online community.

In the video, it can be seen that LTO is bidding on numerous motorcycles, which were impounded. The owners failed to redeem the motorcycles from the office for a long period of time. The agency decided to place those motorcycles in the auction.

Defective Motorcycle Auction

A skeleton motorcycle without fairings, headlight and other necessary parts is being sold for P35, 397.60, which is not appropriate for its condition. Other motorcycles are being sold for a high price.

The auction happened at LTO Cauayan. The initial price of motorcycles is already quite high.
