Mayor Vico Sotto Compares Filipinos Abroad Obeying Rules vs in the Philippines
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto laments Filipinos abroad obeying their rules without hesitation vs while they are in the Philippines.
Residents of the city recently asked Sotto why Sandoval Avenue had been dug up, yet it appeared that no workmen were present. Sotto recently responded with an explanation. Sotto claimed in a Facebook post that the contractor’s building authorization is valid until 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
According to him, the city is following OSHA regulations in this regard. He claims it is risky for them to continue working when there are numerous passing cars and pedestrians.
“Lalo na’t nasa ‘BREAKING PHASE’ pa tayo, DELIKADO (hazardous) kung may gagawa habang maraming dumadaan na sasakyan/pedestrian. Baka may matamaan,” he said in his post.
Additionally, he claimed that closing the entire route would cause additional disruption. When the road work is already in the compacting/steel bars stage, the working hours would be extended.
For the sake of the general people, he said, he has ordered the installation of more signage in the area. Sotto reacts to a netizen’s protest about the continuing Sandoval Avenue road construction.
The netizen asked: “Anong pinag gagawa nio sa mga pasaherong nag-aabang ng masasakyan sa may Rosario tulay? Pinapalipat niyo sila sa napakalayong simbahan”
The Pasig Mayor responded saying, “Bakit kaya pag nasa ibang bansa tayong mga Pilipino handa tayong sumunod sa tamang sakayan/babaan… kahit paglakarin tayo ng 500 meters sumusunod tayo, no questions asked… Pero pag nasa maynila tayo, magagalit pa kapag inaayos ito.”
