King Charles III has succeeded the late Queen Elizabeth II. She died last September 8 at her summer home in Scotland. She was 96 years old at the time of her death and has served the longest-reign as monarch in Britain. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Buckingham Palace recently announced that the coronation of King Charles III will be on May 6, 2023. On the same day which is also the 4th birthday of Archie, the King’s grandson, his wife, Queen Consort Camilla, will also be crowned.

KING CHARLES III – Here are some details of the new monarch of Britain following Queen Elizabeth II’s death.
The United Kingdom now has a new monarch, King Charles II, the eldest son of the late Queen Elizabeth II who died at her summer home in Scotland last September 8, 2022.
Personal Background
Born on November 14, 1948 in Buckingham Palace, Charles Philip Arthur George is the eldest child of the Duchess of Edinburgh who became Queen Elizabeth II and the Prince of Edinburgh who became Prince Philip. His paternal grandfather, King George VI, was reigning when he was born. In 1952, his mother succeeded his late grandfather which made him the heir apparent and the Duke of Cornwall, Duke of Rothesay, Prince and Great Steward of Scotland, Baron of Renfrew, and Lord of the Isles.
Charles is vocal that he did not enjoy school during his growing up years. According to him, it was because he was happier to be at home than anywhere else. There were instances when he broke royal tradition – like when he enrolled at a university than join the British Armed Forces after his A-levels.
Marriages
Charles married Lady Diana Spencer. However, even at the beginning of their relationship, there were claims that she was only awestruck by his position while he did not seem in love with her. Their relationship pushed further to marriage following an engagement in February 1981. In July of the same year, they officially tied the knot at St. Paul’s Cathedral. Their marriage is blessed with two (2) sons – Princes William and Harry.
However, the couple separated amid speculations of cheating on both sides. The separation came within five years since they married. She admitted falling in love with the family’s former riding instructor, James Hewitt, and accused Charles of a relationship with Camilla Parker. Diana died in a car accident in 1996.
In February 2005, Charles and Camilla got engaged. They wed in a civil ceremony which is the only record of a civil wedding by a royal in England.
