Personal Profile

Born on April 21, 1986 in the United Kingdom, Elizabeth Alexandra Mary is the granddaughter of the reigning monarch then, King George V, who was the father of her father, then the Duke of York and later on became King George VI. Her mother is then Duchess of York Elizabeth who became Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother. She was delivered through a Caesarean section and was named after her mother. Her two other names are after her grandmothers. She has a younger sibling, Princess Margaret. They were home-schooled with lessons focusing on language, history, music, and literature.

During the reign of King George V, the grandfather of then Princess Elizabeth, she was third in the line of succession to the throne. Her uncle Edward and her father were the first and second in the line of succession. When King George V died, Edward became king but only for a short while due to marriage matters with a divorced woman. The father of Elizabeth became king. In 1951, the health of King George VI declined and it was Elizabeth who stood for him in public events. She was in a tour when he died.

Family

It was in 1934 when then Princess Elizabeth met her future husband, Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark. They were second cousins through King Christian IX of Denmark and third cousins through Queen Victoria.
