Policeman in Largest Drug Bust in Tondo Once Best Cop in PNP Anti-Drug Group
The policeman who was involved in an illegal drug bust in Tondo, Manila was once awarded as a best cop by the Philippine National Police (PNP).
A police operation that resulted in the seizure of nearly a ton of suspected shabu worth P6.7 billion also resulted in the arrest of Police Master Sergeant Rodolfo Mayo Jr. It was revealed that Mayo had previously been named the PNP Drug Enforcement Group’s best officer.
GMA News reported that May had no past criminal history when he was apprehended on Saturday night in Manila and turned over two kilograms of shabu estimated to be worth over P13 million. Director of the PNP-DEG, Police Brigadier General Narcisco Domingo, claimed that Mayo had consented to reveal information on the narcotics operations.
According to a PNP-DEG official, the enormous quantity of suspected shabu seized from a loan company’s stockroom may have been imported from China. This is based, he claimed, on the packaging of the medications that were seized.
Additionally, it might have come from earlier police operations where shabu was found. Recall that PNP agents recently busted a drug den in a building on Jose Abad Santos Street in Barangay 252 in Tondo, Manila, where they found 990 kg of illegal drugs worth P6.7 billion.
Among the confiscated items were identification, possessions, and incriminating documents named to Mayo Jr. The police subsequently launched a manhunt, which resulted in the capture of the anti-drug cop.
