What’s the effect of Shopee’s decision to get Toni Gonzaga as ambassador
Online sellers using Shopee as a platform to sell their products have these reactions to the decision of the company to get Ultimate Multimedia Star Toni Gonzaga as its ambassador.
From the time Shopee teased its new endorser, netizens have been talking about this already until she was finally revealed as the new Shopee ambassador.
However, one of the hashtags that trended on social media was “boycott Shopee.” There were netizens who even said that they will delete their Shopee app and will just use its rival Lazada.
Bandera entertainment columnist Reggee Bonoan asked sellers who are using Shopee if they were affected by the “boycott Shopee” trend after Toni Gonzaga was named as the new ambassador.
A seller said that at first they got worried that their profit might get affected by the hate reactions against Toni and Shopee. “Talagang nakakaba pero after two or three days, parang okay na ulit, ang dami na ulit naming orders, parang nag increase pa nga ng 15% nu’ng umingay si Toni,” the seller said.
Because of this, the seller said that it might just be a gimmick because for several days netizens are talking about Toni and Shopee and now, it’s back to work. Other sellers of pet products, powerbanks supplier, beauty products, milk, and others also think that it was a sort of promotion.
The columnist shared that they have been reaching out to Shopee to ask questions about Toni Gonzaga as the new endorser, however, the online shopping brand has not responded regarding this.
On the other hand, Shopee expressed gratitude for the help that the company receive for the promotion. Meanwhile, aside from being the new Shopee ambassador, Toni also has a new talk show on ALLTV.
