Toni Gonzaga became a trending topic again
Ultimate Multimedia Star Toni Gonzaga thanked the netizens during the event that announced her as the new Shopee ambassador.
On September 28, the online shopping company released a teaser showcasing that its brand is set to welcome a new ambassador. Many netizens easily guessed that it was Toni and because of this she became a trending topic on social media.
However, this came with #BoycottShopee and #ByeShopee. Netizens using these hashtags said that they will now uninstall their Shopee app because they don’t like Toni to be the brand ambassador. Most of these netizens are those who do not like the political inclination that Toni has.
Despite the backlash, Toni Gonzaga is unfazed. In a video posted on the Twitter page of The Philippine Star, the actress-host said that she is thankful for netizens. Even before she was officially launched as the new Shopee ambassador, she and the company were already trending.
“Since yesterday we are trending, today we are grateful for our netizens for the mentions and engagements, they are the reasons why we are here today,” Toni said.
She also shared that she only found out about this stint two months ago. Toni said that she told her sister actress-vlogger Alex Gonzaga about this. Alex was also a brand ambassador of the online shopping company. The Ultimate Multimedia Star shared that her younger sister is happy about this as she has been a Shopee customer for a long time now.

These past few months, Toni Gonzaga has been receiving “cancel” reactions and bashing from netizens because she endorsed President Bongbong Marcos. However, the actress-host apparently, is not affected by the negative reactions being thrown at her. Alex said in an interview that her Ate Toni is indeed a strong woman.
“Matapang talaga ang ate ko as a person kaya nga sabi ko siguro nga talagang she was really born for this kasi kaya niya,” the younger Gonzaga said.
