Melai Cantiveros talked about her hosting stint
Former Pinoy Big Brother host Melai Cantiveros revealed the “major challenge” she encountered as a television host.
Joining and winning the Kapamilya reality show opened a big door of opportunity in showbiz for Melai. She is known for her candidness which makes a lot of people laugh. Aside from her acting stints, Melai was given a chance to be part of the morning talk show Magandang Buhay.
In a recent interview, based on the article in Inquirer, Melai shared that her comic side a something that she has to handle while hosting. “Even though I try to be serious, my funny side always comes out,” she said.
On the other hand, she needs to channel both her seriousness and comic side in her new show The Chosen One: Ang Piliserye ng Bayan, a narrative-reality series on Pinoy Interactive Entertainment (PIE) Channel.
“Definitely, when I make important announcements, you will see a serious Melai, but generally, I’m a happy and bubbly host every Saturday because I simply want to share happiness with PIE viewers,” the Kapamilya star said.
Portraying her character as Miss Jane, the owner of the mysterious company, Astra Nuevo, she needs to be serious. The episode in the “piliserye” is titled Soap Opera, and has a unique concept. The viewers can control how the story goes. They have the power to choose which character stays alive until the end by voting.
Soap Opera is airing every Saturday (8-10 p.m.) with Jhong Hilario as the “chosen mentor.” He will comment on the performance of each player and the current standing of each player will be revealed according to the votes they get.
Melai Cantiveros shared that it is her first time working with the Sample King and she said that the viewers can expect endless banter. “It will be like playing volleyball with him. When he sends me something funny and witty, I give them back to him,” she shared.
