CHRISTMAS RUSH – The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has started preparing for the crowd of people that is expected to go to malls for Christmas shopping.
The holiday season is here once again and many people have started planning to buy gifts to give to their loved ones. Many individuals are also set to go for shopping to get the things needed at home where parties will be hosted. It is expected that the road will be a lot busier in the coming weeks heading to the Christmas and New Year celebrations. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the MMDA affirmed that it has started its preparations for the expected increase on the number of people who will be going out of their houses to go to malls. MMDA Acting Chairman Engineer Carlo Dimayuga said that they expect around 10-15% additional on the traffic. Currently, 400,000 cars travel in Metro Manila roads daily. Clearing operations are ongoing. MMDA also plans to talk to mall companies not to implement sales on weekdays and to extend their operating hours. More updates may be posted soon.
