Richard Gomez shared his showbiz journey
Actor-politician Richard Gomez revealed that at this age, he already became a millionaire because of his showbiz engagements.
Richard is one of the matinee idols during the 80s and 90s. His career soared high and he was able to buy properties from his earnings. This is one of the values he wants to relay to the younger generation of artists in the Philippine entertainment industry.
In a recent interview on talent manager-vlogger Ogie Diaz‘s personal YouTube channel, the current Representative of Leyte’s 4th district, shared that at a young age, he was able to know how to handle his earnings in showbiz.
Richard Gomez shared that his friends would call him “kunat” back then because he would save 50 percent of his earnings in the bank. For the remaining half, he would make sure that he would pay his bills first before spending for his “luho.”
He started his career in the entertainment industry at the age of 17 and by he reached 20, he was already a millionaire. “Naging milyonaryo ako at the age of 20,” he shared. His saving came from all his showbiz engagements back then.
It was his manager the late Douglas Quijano who encouraged him to save money while his career is at its peak. When asked what expensive thing he first bought from his money, he said that he bought a house. From that, the actor-politician also invested in other real estate properties.
Richard Gomez also shared his message with the younger generation of artists. He said that young artists should feel lucky now because it is easy for them to be seen and heard through social media. “There are so many ways of earning money,” he said, adding that they should really save.
He also highlighted the value of giving importance to the craft. The actor-politician said that being in showbiz is a beautiful job and there are those who failed to find a spot in the industry, so they should give importance to the opportunities given to them.
