This is the reason why Richard Gomez is not showing his awards to his daughter
Actor-politician Richard Gomez admitted that he does not want his daughter Juliana Gomez to see his acting awards and the recognition that he got in sports.
Aside from being an actor, Richard was also part of the national team for four sports – rowing, badminton, fencing, at volleyball. As an actor, Richard has received several acting awards. He also did great during his years in the field of sports.
During his recent guesting on the Surprise Guest with Pia Arcangel podcast, based on the article in GMA News Online, Richard Gomez revealed that he is not keeping all his awards in one place. His reason behind this is that he does not want Juliana Gomez too see all his achievements.
“‘Yung acting trophies ko, sa iba’t ibang part ng bahay namin. Ayoko kasi na ilagay sa isang eskaparate lahat ng awards ko because I didn’t want to show it to Juliana,” he said. The actor-politician added that he does not intentionally want to keep his awards but he does not want his daughter to feel intimidated.
“Kasi maraming mga anak na nai-intimidate sa parents nila, parang ‘Grabe naman ‘yung parents ko ang dami na nilang nagagawa sa buhay nila.’ Natatakot sila, that’s how they think. So hindi ko masyadong dini-display, even ‘yung mga awards ko sa sports, para they were able to accomplish something without being intimidated or being forced by their parents,” Richard explained.
He also said that he wants his daughter to rise on her own and not because of his awards that she saw. Richard Gomez stressed that he wants Juliana Gomez to excel in whatever she does because of her talent and ability. “I wanted her to grow up on her own,” the actor-politician said. Richard also shared that Juliana is now part of the fencing team of the University of the Philippines.
