DepEd Hotlines Receives Numbers of Abuse Reports in Schools

DepEd Reveals Their Hotlines Received Reports of Abuse from Schools

The Department of Education (DepEd) confirmed that they have been receiving several reports of abuse from schools on their hotlines.

According to the DepE, reports of alleged mistreatment to students in schools have been reported on their hotline. A week has passed since DepEd opened its hotline for these complaints.

Deped Hotlines Abuse Reports

Less than 20 complaints were received, according to DepEd spokesperson Michael Poa during a press conference. These include verbal, physical, and sexual abuse, based on the report of the Manila Bulletin.

Poa said that they are in touch with other agency authorities to look into these allegations. Poa added that they are in direct communication with the complainants and that all reports that come into their office are confidential.

It may be noted that DepEd last week introduced their new email and hotlines where residents can immediately report the injustices they experienced in schools to Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte. This comes after seven high school instructors in Bacoor, Cavite, were accused of abusing their kids sexually.

While two of the teachers were not charged because there wasn’t enough proof, the other five have already been given administrative charges. DepEd has likewise urged abuse victims to do so without hesitation in order to report their mistreatment.
