Based on a recent report on ABS-CBN News, after more than 50 years in government service, the physician-scientist is set to leave his posts as the chief medical advisor of Biden and the chief of NIAID in December. Personal Background:

Born on December 24, 1940 in Brooklyn, New York City, Anthony Stephen Fauci is the son of a pharmacist, Stephen Fauci, and a wife who worked at their own pharmacy, Eugenia Lillian. His mother and sister worked at their family’s pharmacy business as the registers. He worked in their pharmacy as the delivery man of the prescriptions.

Fauci attended a private Jesuit school, Regis High School. In college, he attended College of the Holy Cross where he took Bachelor of Arts degree in classics with a pre-med track. He then proceeded at Cornell University’s Medical College.

Dr. Anthony Fauci finished his medical residency in 1968. He joined the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and became the clinical associate in the NIAID or the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease. In 1980, he became the the chief of the laboratory of Immunoregulation of NIAID. He was offered to lead the NIH several times but he refused the position.

In 1985, Dr. Fauci married Christine Grady, a bioethicist and a nurse. They met when they treated a patient. Then, Grady was leading the Department of Biothetics at the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center.

Fauci considered former U.S. President George W. Bush his close friend but he has always maintained that he is non-partisan. He’s the highest-paid government employee in U.S. earning $480,654 for working in the NIAID.
