Lightning Strikes Businessman in Cavite, Victim Declared Dead on Arrival at Hospital

LIGHTNING INCIDENT – A businessman passed away after he was strike lightning in Trece Martires City, Cavite.

Lightning is a naturally occurring electrostatic discharge during rainy weather conditions or when two electrically charged regions equalized themselves in the atmosphere. It also causes thunder.

However, lightning contains a massive amount of electricity that could cause harm to anyone who will be struck by this electrostatic discharge.

On Thursday (August 19, 2022), an entrepreneur identified as Edrin Musa suffered serious injuries after he was struck by lightning. The latter has been struck by lightning on his back, which burned the upper portion of his body, according to his wife.

The victim’s wife narrated that her husband was just attending their store at Barangay San Agustin when the incident happened around 4:00 pm. Two other tricycle drivers suffered wounds and injuries due to the incident.

Musa has been rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival. The 26-year-old trike driver named Mark Arjay Layno was brought to the hospital for a medical check-up for suffering back pain. He was discharged right after the consultation.

According to Layno, he was at the terminal near Musa’s store when the lightning hits the establishment.

Trece Martires City government advised the public to take precautionary measures for possible thunderstorms and lightning in the area, especially during the afternoon.
