12-Year-Old Girl Dies After Struck by Lightning While Bathing in Rain
San Carlos City, Pangasinan – A 12-year-old girl passes away after she has been struck by lightning while taking bathing in rain.
The lady victim identified as Joanna Domantay of Barangay Kubol in San Carlos City, Pangasinan is bathing in the rain together with her sibling when she has been struck by a lightning. Domantay has been rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
The victim’s auntie named Teresita Domantay even tried to reprimand her niece for bathing in the rain. Teresita saw the lightning and heard thunder but did not expect that it would strike her niece.
“Pagka ano ng kapatid niya sabi namin sa kaniya bakit ka naliligo sa ulan. ‘Yon po humihingi na po ng tulong yung kapatid niya gumugulong po sa kamanggahan. ‘Tiya tulong si ate natamaan ng kidlat,” Teresita said.
Joanna’s younger sibling is currently recuperating at the hospital after she suffered injuries on her legs after she has been struck by lightning. The lightning also leaves a mark on a nearby tree.
The authorities have also advised the public to avoid staying in open areas during localized thunderstorms. The public is also advised to avoid using mobile gadgets during a series of thunderstorms.
“Kasi mayroong certain height na daanan o path ng tinatawag nating kidlat. Kapag nasa mataas na elevation ka, hangga’t maaari umiwas ka doon,” PAGASA-Dagupan city Chief Meteorological Officer Engr. Jose Estrada Jr. said.
