Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about Earthquake Today August 12, 2022 in Davao Occidental
EARTHQUAKE TODAY AUGUST 12, 2022 – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.0 magnitude earthquake in Sarangani Island, Davao Occidental.
Most of the time, quakes hit with no prior signs. Recently, several places in and out of the Philippines were shaken by quakes of different magnitudes.
Previously, in April 22, Phivolcs recorded a quake in a part of Zambales. It had a magnitude of 6.1. Strong shaking was felt leaving people fearing about the so-called “Big One“. But the agency advises the people to wait for factual information and not to panic.
Recently, a quake hit a part of Davao Occidental, August 12, 2022. At 07:43 a.m., Sarangani Island was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.1.
According to Phivolcs, the earthquake today August 12, 2022 that hit a part of Davao Occidental was located at 04.98° North, 126.62° East – 138 km South 67° East of Sarangani Island with a depth of origin of 034 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. No intensity was felt at the epicenter of the quake nor any nearby area. No instrumental intensity was recorded as well.
