This is apparently the reason why the lawmaker wanted to boost the film industry. Through Senate Bill No. 28, the actor-politician wants to help people behind the camera and those who are working in this field.

Sen. Bong Revilla aims to give fiscal incentives to proprietors, lessees, and operators of theaters and cinemas, based on the article in NewsKo. If this bill will be passed into law, the national and local taxes that are being implemented such as income tax, excise tax, value-added tax, and amusement tax will be diminished.

The bill also stated that 5 percent of the gross income will be given to the government. Three percent of that will go to the National Government while the two percent will be given to the Treasurer’s Office of the local government unit of the town or city where the cinema is located.

Senator Revilla wants the cinemas’ proprietors, lessees, and operators to help the entertainment industry. The lawmaker said that he was able to help other sectors amid the pandemic and he will not forget to help the show business as well because this industry suffered so much also.

He said that people in the entertainment industry can also be considered frontliners because they continued to provide entertainment amid the pandemic. “Para ang ating industriya at sining ay patuloy na sumigla at lumakas, kailangan din natin bigyan sila ng mabilis na assistance,” the lawmaker added.

Senator Bong Revilla also said that he is interested in producing films under his production company Imus Productions.
