PAGASA Releases Latest Weather Update for Friday (July 29)

PAGASA Says LPA Will Bring Cloudy to Rainy Conditions Over Parts of PH

The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that a low-pressure area may develop into a tropical depression and bring rains over many parts of the country.

On Friday (July 29, 2022), the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. A low-pressure area will affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA reported that the LPA has been last spotted at 1,020 kilometers east of extreme northern Luzon. An active tropical cyclone outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility is located 1,715 kilometers east northeast of extreme northern Luzon.

The active tropical cyclone has maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 80 kph while moving 45 kph. at north northwest direction.

“The development of this weather disturbance into a tropical depression is highly possible within the next 24 hours,” Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estareja said.

Estareja said that the combined effects of the LPA and the southwest monsoon will bring scattered light to moderate with at times heavy rain showers and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Samar provinces, Zambales, Bataan, Aklan, and Antique.

The localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the remaining parts of the country.

“Under these conditions, scattered flooding and rain-induced landslides are likely, especially in the areas that are very highly susceptible to these hazards,” Pagasa said.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Palawan, Visayas and Mindanao as well as the rest of the country will be slight to moderate, according to the weather bureau.
