Earthquake Today July 27 Felt By Noli de Castro & Karen Davila

As the earthquake today July 27, greatly felt in Abra, it was also felt during Noli de Castro and Karen Davila’s live reporting.

EARTHQUAKE TODAY JULY 27 – Noli de Castro and Karen Davila were shocked during live reporting as they felt the earthquake’s intensity.

7.3 magnitude quake hits La Trinidad, Benguet and its epicenter was Abra with a depth of 10 kilometers (6.2 miles). The shaking left huge damage to establishments and roads, breaking buildings, and even claimed one life as per this posting. Moreover, the quake left many injured with its strong intensity.

It triggered landslides and the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said that citizens should expect aftershocks. Phivolcs, on the other hand, issued no tsunami warnings because it was detected inland.

And with its strong intensity, apart from the clear damage that it did to many households and establishments, its impact was also felt in various parts of Luzon. And since it was felt in Luzon, broadcasters such as Noli De Castro and Karen Davila were caught on live shock reactions over the shaking.

Davila was talking with Rep. Arnie Teves Jr. about renaming NAIA when they felt it. Both of them aired they felt it and the female broadcaster, living in a condominium, expressed she really did feel it. They cut the interview shortly.

Kabayan, on the other hand, was live on air for his Teleradyo program. He was talking with Dr. Maria Minerva Calimag when it happened and upon feeling the shaking, Calimag quipped, “Naku, lumilindol!” before the connection got lost.

Calimag was in Ilocos Sur during that interview. De Castro did not felt it right away which prompted him to express, “Ilocos Sur. Follow-up, lumilindol. Si Dra. Maria Minerva Calimag, nawala ang kanyang signal dahil sabi niya, lumilindol. Malikot nga yung kanyang video. Ilocos Sur! Susmaryosep, ano ba ang nangyayari sa daigdig? Baka kailangan ho natin na dagdagan ang ating mga dasal.”

But just over a minute after losing Calimag, De Castro felt the impact. He remained calm and was even able to realize that if the quake is from Ilocos Sur and it was felt in Luzon, it must be strong. And he was right.
